Rewinding a bit

I like to think of this space as my own personal online scrapbook. A place where in years to come I can look back and scroll through my memories and moments. I can read on seasons of life a how each of them felt.

In my last post “Let’s Catch Up 3” I touched on my daughters 1st birthday. Her birthday was back in October but it was such a special day that I wanted to save the special little details of it here.

For our theme I went with floral because every girl deserves flowers and she loves them. I incorporated pink and golds, they’re pretty much my color theme for everything. And I even used a few touches that were used at our wedding which made it even more special.

I had an imagine I wanted to create of a really cute and pretty sweets table. I brought down her eggshell blue dresser and set up the sweetest little display of treats, full of cake pops, sugar cookies and a smash cake. I ordered a tassel banner from amazon, thinking it would come ready but found my self at 11 o’clock the night before the party twisting it and stringing it together, totally worth it though! I made and decorated all the treats myself so my feet were killing me by the end of it! Our sugar cookies had floral frosting and I dusted the cake pops with decorating glitter. Side note, cake pops are sneakily hard to make!

On my kitchen table I had the prettiest runner that was also used at my wedding. I added really delicate placemats that I love around the table so people knew they could sit there. I get these at Michaels! I bought a few mirrored picture frames to add to the table with a newborn photo and a photo from her one year photo shoot. It was so sweet to see the difference in a year!

One of my favorite touches was her monthly picture board. Throughout the whole first year every month I would take her picture in the same spot and edit the picture with new things she is doing. I bought a thin palette board at hobby lobby, string, mini clothes pins and a few fake flowers to create the board of her milestones through the year. Guests loved looking at and now I have it forever (never getting rid of it)

We had the parry mid day so I served some of my favorite appetizers. Here’s my favorite bruschetta to try:

Bruschetta: by Pioneer Woman

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pint red tomatoes halved
  • 1 pint yellow tomatoes halved
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 16 basil leaves chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 whole baguette
  • Olive oil to brush on baguette

In a skillet over medium heat add olive oil and toast the garlic until golden. Chop tomatoes and basil into a bowl. Add garlic and the olive oil you cooked it in to the tomato mix and balsamic. Cut baguette and brush with olive pop, bake them until toasted. Top with tomato and basil mix!

Besides the decor and the food our house was full of people who love Jae. It’s amazing when your friends and family love your child and embrace who she is! Thanks for letting me rewind here so I keep these memories close.
