Psalm 118

There are some verses that just stick out to me. I believe these ones are the ones placed directly on my heart by Jesus. Usually these are the verses I end up stumbling across when I’m not sure what to read and when I’m often not in the “reading” mode. God shows up once again and places something on my heart that I truly cannot deny.

A few weeks ago I wasn’t sure where to start when I grabbed my bible one night. I put on some worship songs and jumped around in the word for a little bit. I ended up landing on Psalm 118. This passage is all about the Lord’s goodness to us. It’s about being cut down but rising with the Lord. Being pushed back but realizing the Lord is our strength and our song.

I feel like often in life its easy to get our blessing and instead of thanking the Lord fully, we move on to the next. Stumbling across this chapter brought me to give thanks and to give thanks for the Lord being on my right side. It brought me to remember that he has answered me so many times, that he has heard me and fully and let his light shine on us.

Ever since that night this verse has been in my heart. It has stopped me multiple times and reminded me of his goodness and his faithfulness.

“You are my God, and I will praise you; You are my God and I will exalt you. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” Psalm 118:28-29

The beauty of scripture is that these verses ring true always. Even if a verse doesn’t jump up at me in the moment, later this God spoken word will reign over my heart. I’m thankful for this truth and thankful that the Lord hears and answers. Psalm 118 speaks of struggles but also provides the amazing truth that with the Lord his love endures forever and his faithfulness will never end.
