Addicting Christmas “Crack”

I should probably start off by apologizing to you for giving you this recipe. It is seriously addicting. Our sweet neighbors brought some over the other day and I was in heaven. I even snuck down before everyone was awake to get the last piece. Is that embarrassing to admit? Well, once you make it I think you will understand!

I guess since it’s so addicting some people have named it Christmas Crack and it is the perfect combination between salty and sweet. It’s also really fun and easy to make! We made it a whole family project and had our 4 year old help a lot! Using saltine crackers kids can in charge of lining the cookie tray. Adults in charge of melting the sugar and butter over the stove. I put my husband and daughter in charge of melting the chocolate chips! These bars would be perfect on a Christmas cookie tray or in a cookie box you’re giving away! And people will thank you for how good they are!

Just promise you will let me know if you sneak out to the kitchen to get more 🙂

Christmas Crack Ingredients:
50 saltine crackers (about a sleeve and a half)
1 1/4 cup butter
1 1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
pinch of salt
1 1/2 bags of semi-sweet chocolate chips
sprinkle coconut flakes or sprinkles for topping

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Line 17×12 cookie sheet with non-stick foil and line baking sheet with saltine crackers

Melt butter, brown sugar, vanilla and salt in a medium sized saucepan and bring to a boil for about 2 minutes

Removed from heat and pour over saltine crackers

Place crackers in oven for 10 minutes (just keep an eye on them)

You can either melt your chocolate chips like I did or you can sprinkle over the top of your crackers after they bake and pop them back in the oven for 1-2 minutes then spread evenly

Top with coconut or festive sprinkles!

Let your bark cool in the pan for about 20 minutes and then you can place them in the freezer for about 30 minutes until hard and then break or cut apart! Enjoy!
