Let’s catch up 4

It has been a while since I have “caught up” and a lot sure has happened in the past six months. While a lot has happened a lot has made us grow and continue to trust the Lord.

To start I’ll start back in May:

1.  At the end of May we packed our first home up and said goodbye to that comfort and moved across the country. We moved to a whole lot of new. New housing, new jobs, new daycares, new people, new atmosphere and a new lifestyle. While all of this “new” was waiting to be explored my heart was pretty dang tangled in resistance. I’ve always been a creature of habit, and I thank my husband for pulling me out of my comfort zone when I need to be, but all of this new had me running to any comfort I could. Being in a new place meant that a lot of my comfort places and things were gone, so I clung to my family, my God and chick fil a. Can’t go wrong with a nice “my pleasure” and an order of waffle fries.

2.    The next big event was a big one, probably one of the biggest of my life:

While we were in the process of moving, I decided to take my daughter to New York to spend a few days with my parents. One day she really wanted to plant a garden. So my handy dad went out in his yard and built her a garden. He was digging, raking, pouring soil, dragging a hose and to us it seemed fine. Well about 15 minutes later I found him having massive chest pains. Right away I called 911 and he was having a heart attack. Thankfully he was rushed to the hospital to get a stent put in where they found three other clogged arteries. Fast forward three weeks later and he was having triple by pass surgery. This was easily the scariest most stressful day I’ve ever experience. The surgery was supposed to take four hours and it took a long brutal nine hours. It was all very scary and stressful but praise the Lord that he is recovered and doing better than ever! We stayed in New York for about a month after his surgery to help with his recovery. Jae was the sweetest little nurse.

“But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles The will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint” Isaiah 40:31

3.       We also did something fun! Jake and I took our first out of state trip away from Jae. We have only ever left her one of time and went to a hotel about 30 minutes from our house and we were only gone from 5pm to 12pm the next day. This was a bigger trip. Jae stayed with my parents in New York and Jake and I went to Denver, Colorado for a fun work trip of Jake’s. His company had Mercy Me playing at Red Rocks Amphitheater and it was nothing short of amazing. If you haven’t been to Red Rocks you must put it on your bucket list. It’s one of the most beautiful place I’ve seen. It was the perfect get away and refresher that we needed.

4.       I will have to end this on  a bit of a sad note but I wanted to document it. This summer we found out of sweet dog Indy was battling lymphoma cancer. While he did okay battling for a while things started progressing faster. Sadly, it was time that we had to say goodbye to our sweet dog. While I wasn’t physically there and wish I had a better goodbye with him I know he felt our love. He was the sweetest dog and was with me during a lot of big moments in my life. He was with me when I met Jake, when we got married, when we moved, when we had baby and he was always right there. Even when priorities had to change to becoming parents he was still the sweetest thing. Our family is missing a piece but we are so thankful for all the time we had with him.

We’ve had ups and downs during this season of life. Sometimes when it rains it pours but I am thankful for all the little things that kept us going. I’m thankful for God whispering that he knows our plans in the midst of the unknown, that he is in control and that fear truly is a liar. He is mighty to save.
