Joanne Gaines Biscuits

Joanna Gaines can pretty much do anything and I’m just like everyone else who loves her design. Ever since I have tried her biscuit recipe, I love her even more. Usually if a biscuit comes with my meal I give it to my husband because it doesn’t excite me that much. But with this recipe, I go back for seconds! They’re flakey, warm and the perfect hint of sweet!

So, this biscuit recipe that I want to share with you isn’t the same recipe that is in her cook book. The first time I made these biscuits was Easter Sunday and her book wasn’t out yet. I’m pretty sure I found this recipe in her Magnolia Magazine. Either way, I’m sure her cook book recipe is just as amazing! I’ll have to try that recipe out and let you know my comparison. In the meantime, let’s make these biscuits.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees
  • Combine and mix together dry ingredients
  • With a pastry cutter or fork (I used a fork) mix in butter until it is in small crumbs
  • Make a center for buttermilk and add, mixing all ingredients together
  • Put dough on lightly floured surface and knead until together
  • Roll to 3/4 inch thick and cut into about 12 small squares, but don’t cut all the way through!
  • Brush with warm milk and top with a spring of sugar if you wish
  • Bake for 10 minutes
  • Enjoy with your favorite jam, butter or honey!

I love when I find a recipe that I know if going to be a staple in my house. I can tell we’re going to make these biscuits often and they will be a sign of comfort in our home. I hope your family thinks they are too!
