What to do with kids on Halloween week!

It’s Halloween week! Honestly, growing up and into my adult years Halloween has never been my favorite. I’m pretty sure I stopped dressing up in the 4th grade and I never saw much fun of Halloween even as I got older. I think 9 year old Jayni was the last to put on a Halloween costume. I’d much rather be passing out the candy with my fuzzy socks, fire place and my festive pumpkin sweater that I break out once a year.

Now that I’m a mom I have a little different view of Halloween. While I’m still not into it myself it’s so fun to do Halloween/Fall activities with my daughter. We lean more towards fall things than spooky Halloween and try to just create a cozy atmosphere with fall baking, coloring and some special festive shows!

My daughter just turned 4 and is a busy bee. She loves to have activities otherwise things are kind of all over the place. With that having a few simple activities in place are so helpful for our day!

Here is a few things on our last week of October:

1. Play with our Young Wild and Friedman Halloween themed playdough-These are favorite investment. My sweet mom actually buys these for Jae and we couldn’t love them more.

2. Neighborhood scavenger hunt- honestly this is just something we have made up to keep ourselves busy. My daughter will either ride her bike, walk or want me to push her in a stroller and we search for certain Halloween or fall decorations.

3.Trader Joe’s Haunted House Chocolate Cookie Kit think a gingerbread house but Halloween. We will see how this goes and make it fun!

4. Make trick or treat goodie bags- with COVID I read a safe way to hand out candy was to make goodie bags a few days before and put them outside for kids to take. It will be fun to make with JJ, she loves to help!

5. Cookies!- these are a Halloween twist on a peanut butter kiss cookie and we love them! Here is the recipe!
